Acura Adds New 6-Speed ZDX
Valencia Acura – Sneak Peek at the new 2010 6-speed ZDX. Car enthusiasts have something to anticipate next year: Acura has included a manual transmission model line-up for model year 2010. This addition to the upcoming range makes it the most diverse in the manufacturer’s history.
The transmission of the new Acura ZDX is a manual 6-speed. For the first time ever, it is coupled with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. And combined with the vehicle’s 3.71 V6 engine, shift accuracy is even more superior. The manual gearbox is more or less 110 pounds lighter than the Sequential Sport Shift automatic transmission, thus improving the ZDX’s braking, acceleration, and cornering.
Another thing to look forward to in the ZDX is the Hill Start Assist system. When the Hill Start Assist is on, the brakes automatically hold briefly as the driver’s foot moves from the brake to the accelerator pedal. This useful feature stops the car from rolling backwards when on a hill or any other inclined surface.
Of course, the Acura ZDX is not without the TL’s standard safety features. Included are six airbags and active head restraints, side curtain airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, ABS, EBD, VSA, and daytime running lights.
Acura sales vice president Jeff Conrad stated that the new Acura ZDX will let the driver take full advantage of the car’s SH-AWD system. He added that this 6-speed manual transmission model is the greatest performing Acura TL ever. It is also the best handling performer among every vehicle in its class.
